The Walther P38 came into service with the German armed forces in 1939. It replaced the Luger, which was too complicated and expensive. It was also the first military issue weapon to incorporate a double action trigger.
WW2 German army M40 single decal helmet with battle damage.
The field grey paint is in excellent condition. The army eagle decal is in fine condition with at least 95% remaining with just a few tiny scratches. The helmet has been hit by a Bullet or shrapnel so there is an entry hole to the top right hand side of the helmet and there is a hole in the leather at the rear of the helmet and damage to the liner but has not come through the rear of the helmet, there is also a mild impact depression on the reverse side of the helmet, all really fascinating and certainly adds to the interest. The interior features a brown leather liner with some minor damage also possibly from shrapnel. The helmet rim is stamped D136 and NS64 . No chin strap. all pins are untouched.
